Due to 2021 Free Preschool COVID funding from the NSW Department of Education the first 15 hours of attendance each week at St John’s Preschool are fee free. An additional fee is payable for children enrolled for more than 15 hours per week. This is dependant upon continued funding support and will revert to normal fee payments at the end of 2021.

The daily fees for 2020 were:

  • 4 year old rate: $45.00 (children who turn four by 31 July in that year of Preschool)
  • 3 year old rate: $ 80.00 (children who are still three after 1 August in that year of Preschool)
  • Equity fee details available on application

A deposit of four weeks’ fees is required upon enrolment. This is deducted from your final four week’s fees at the end of your child’s attendance at Preschool. Please contact the Preschool for information regarding the current daily fee. If you hold a Low Income Health Care Card, or have a child with a disability you may be entitled to a further discount on your Preschool fees. Please speak with the Preschool Director or Administrator further about this.

Fees must be paid regularly and two weeks in advance. Please note that fees are payable, even if your child is absent. Four weeks’ written notice during term time is required when withdrawing a child from Preschool.

Start Strong Fee

The NSW Government is committed to ensuring that all children in NSW can participate in 600 hours of quality preschool education in the year before school, no matter where they live or what their circumstances are.

To ensure that affordability is not a barrier for families with young children, the NSW Government provides Start Strong funding making 600 hours, or 15 hours per week, of preschool participation in the two years before school more affordable by reducing fees for children.

This funding is to be directed towards children in the year before they are eligible to start school (four and five year olds) who are enrolled in a preschool program for 15 hours per week.

Start Strong funding enables us to pass on fee reductions for all eligible 3 and 4 year old children attending each week.

The NSW Department of Education requires parents to sign the ‘Consent to use and disclosure of personal information’ form at the time of enrolment.  Your eligibility for Start Strong Funding is conditional upon signing this form.

4 year old Start Strong fee is charged for:

  • Children who are 4 years of age on or before 31 July in that preschool year

3 year old Start Strong fee is charged for:

  • Children who are 3 years of age on or before 31 July in that preschool year

Start Strong Equity fee is charged for

Children who are at least 3 years of age on or before 31 July in that preschool year within the following criteria:

  • Family is eligible for a Low Income Health Care Card
  • Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander

3 year old  Start Strong fee

You may have seen media reports that the NSW Government has extended Start Strong funding to three year olds. Whilst funding for three year olds is less than for older children, it is still very welcome news. The NSW Government has pledged 30% of the Start Strong Funding for three year olds for 2020.
